3 Tips The Girls Are Following This Summer to Stay Chic and Shop Smart

Summer has always felt like an unofficial reset button for style – a season for leveling up the closet while making sure accessories and essentials stay on point and cashing in on the season’s hottest deals. Even on budget, looking chic and doing so within a budget doesn’t have to exist on opposite ends of the spectrum.

From closet rediscovery to more mindful shopping habits, there are simple and practical ways to stretch both style and spend this season. To break it down, fashion content creator Chynna Lim shares three easy, low-stress style rules for the summer – keeping things smart, intentional, and still effortlessly chic.

1. Shop your own closet first

Chynna’s rule of thumb is simple: before anything new makes its way into the cart, the first stop is always the closet.

“It’s always fun to rediscover wardrobe treasures you’ve forgotten,” Chynna shares. More often than not, that “new outfit” energy is already there in the pieces you own.

But when shopping does come into the picture, intention is key. Chynna suggests following the 24-hour rule. She explains, “Never buy something on the spot; give yourself a full day to think it through.” That pause makes the difference between an impulse buy and something that actually earns a place in the rotation.

2. Swap, share, and style within your friend group
One of the easiest ways the girls are refreshing their wardrobes this summer is through closet swaps. It’s also a simple way to turn a hangout into something a little more creative. The idea is simple: just invite the barkada to someone’s house and tell them to bring clothing and accessories they’re willing to lend, and then start mixing and matching looks.

“The more diverse your styles, the more exciting the mix‑and‑match possibilities,” Chynna says.

3. Shop smart by staying intentional about deals

When closet raids and swaps aren’t enough, the girls are leaning into more intentional ways of shopping this summer. One way to find unique, affordable pieces that feel more personal and less mass-produced is to go to thrift stores or pop-up bazaars.

But when in-store shopping does happen at the mall, Chynna highlights the importance of shopping with whom she calls smart shopper friends. “They’re the ones who hold you accountable to what you actually need and aren’t afraid to talk you out of something you’ll regret later,” she explains.

And that same mindset of being more intentional with purchases doesn’t just apply to who you shop with — it also shows up in how you choose to spend. For instance, GCash has partnered with some lifestyle and fashion brands this season to make sure that as you refresh your wardrobe, you still get the most out of every peso spent.

At Charles & Keith, shoppers can get ₱600 off with a minimum spend of ₱6,000. At Nike, there’s up to 30% off plus an additional 10% off on a minimum spend of ₱12,000. Meanwhile, Complex stores are offering 15% off with a minimum spend of ₱5,000 on regular items and accessories. These are just some of the many great deals to keep an eye out for when shopping this summer, and everything gets unlocked with GCash.

For Chynna, using GCash is so much easier to stay on top of your spending overall. “The platform makes things visible and trackable, so you naturally become more mindful about where your money goes,” she adds.

Make your summer extra sulit

With GCash, you can say yes to a smarter and more manageable summer through great deals and getting more value out of every purchase. Because at the end of the day, summer style is less about how much is spent and more about how pieces are chosen, mixed, and reimagined. For Chynna, the best approach is to stay creative, be more intentional, and make what you already have (and what you choose to buy) work harder for you. Download the GCash app today to get started.
