Actress Claudine Barretto became emotional during the press conference for the upcoming film ‘Home Along Da Riles: The Reunion’, held at the Makabagong San Juan National Government Center on Tuesday afternoon.
Throughout the event, Barretto was seen wiping away tears as her fellow cast members shared their memories of the late Comedy King Dolphy Quizon, the beloved star of the iconic 1990s sitcom ‘Home Along Da Riles’.
Among those present at the gathering were Nova Villa, Boy 2 Quizon, Vandolph, Maybelyn Dela Cruz, Smokey Manaloto, Sherilyn Tan, Cita Astals, Dang Cruz, and the Sunog Baga Boys.
When asked about their most memorable experiences with Dolphy, the cast members shared heartfelt stories about working with the legendary comedian. Their testimonies brought both laughter and tears to the room.
For Barretto, every moment she spent with Dolphy remains unforgettable.
She described the sitcom as a project that gave her a second family and said one of her most cherished memories was being able to portray Dolphy’s daughter on screen.
According to the actress, Dolphy was not only a father figure during tapings but also cared deeply for his co-stars beyond work.
Barretto also expressed gratitude for having worked alongside her late uncle, comedian Babalu, who was one of the original cast members of the sitcom together with Nova Villa.
The actress admitted that watching the preview of the reunion film brought back a flood of emotions and nostalgia.
“Parang kasama namin si Tito Dolphy habang pinapanood namin ang preview,” she shared.
The emotional reunion serves as a tribute not only to the beloved sitcom but also to Dolphy’s enduring legacy in Philippine entertainment.
The production took more than two years to complete, largely because of the challenge of coordinating the schedules of the original cast members.
Aside from the press conference, the cast also participated in a Family Day celebration, which included games and a friendly volleyball match. Francis Zamora was also present during the event.
Meanwhile, Barretto remained tight-lipped when asked about the current status of her love life. Although she declined to confirm or deny rumors about a new romance, many noticed her cheerful disposition and positive energy throughout the interview.
Despite the curiosity surrounding her personal life, Barretto made it clear that her focus remains on the reunion project and honoring the memory of Dolphy, whose influence continues to be felt by the cast and generations of Filipino viewers.
Directed by Boy 2 Quizon and produced by Riles Productions, ‘Home Along Da Riles: The Reunion’ also stars Vandolph, Jenny Quizon, Sherilyn Reynes, Cita Astals, and several members of the original cast.
The film opens in cinemas nationwide on June 17.
