THE cast and creative team behind the Filipino independent film “I’m Perfect” have arrived in Italy to represent the Philippines at the 27th Lucania Film Festival, where the film will be screened as part of the festival’s official international program.
Held annually in the Basilicata region of southern Italy, the Lucania Film Festival has established itself as an international platform for independent cinema, bringing together filmmakers, producers and artists from around the world to showcase original storytelling and emerging creative voices.
The invitation marks a significant milestone for “I’m Perfect,” which continues to gain recognition beyond Philippine shores following its successful festival run last December 2025 in Manila.
According to its producers, the film is the first Filipino feature to receive an official invitation to the Lucania Film Festival, highlighting the growing presence of Philippine independent cinema on the international stage.
Members of the delegation are participating in festival activities alongside filmmakers and industry professionals from Europe, Asia and other parts of the world, providing opportunities for cultural exchange and international collaboration.
The film is expected to introduce global audiences to a distinctly Filipino story while underscoring the creativity and craftsmanship of local filmmakers.
Producer Ria Atayde-Marudo of Nathan Studios said the selection reflects the dedication of everyone involved in the project and serves as an opportunity to showcase Filipino talent before an international audience.
Beyond its festival screening, the participation of “I’m Perfect” reinforces the growing recognition being accorded to Philippine cinema in overseas film festivals, where Filipino filmmakers continue to earn invitations, awards and critical acclaim.
The Lucania Film Festival, now on its 27th edition, is recognized for promoting independent filmmaking and intercultural dialogue through cinema, with entries and participants coming from countries across Europe and the rest of the world.
