Recently, Mario Maurer and Kakai Bautista have been the talk of the town when an in-demand letter was sent to Kakai Bautista’s management by the Thai actor’s legal team and was ordered not to use and associate Mario Maurer’s name publicly.
On Tuesday, March 30, Kakai Bautista’s camp finally answered and refuted allegations made by the alleged management of Thai actor Mario Maurer against the actress-comedienne.
Kakai’s lawyer Jude Marfil challenged the authenticity of the letter allegedly from Mario’s camp that it was only “forwarded via email, does not carry any letterhead, mailing address, and contact number.”
Jirachocksubin’s assertion that Kakai “improperly manipulated’ and made ‘false claims’ about Mr. Mario Maurer and his team already reeks of libel,” according to Kakai’s lawyer.
“Further, his claim that our Client [Kakai] ‘improperly exploited’ and made ‘false statements about Mr. Mario Maurer and his team already reek of libel, a crime punishable under Art. 353 of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines.”
Marfil stated that they are deeply alarmed and appalled because the private letter, which was made public, allegedly tarnished Kakai’s reputation and made her appear as a “deceitful, lying, and exploitative woman.”
Going back, Nine Kwaonhar Nine sent a letter to Kakai’s management company, Artists Gallery Management, requesting that she should not “use the name of Mario Maurer or make any reference to him, directly or indirectly.”
In the letter dated March 22, Mario’s team also claimed that if Kakai does not comply with their requests, they will take legal action.
One of the legal’s team citations of Kakai’s use of Mario Maurer’s name is when Kakai had previously spoken about her relationship with Mario, with whom she co-starred in the 2012 film Suddenly It’s Magic.
In a 2013 interview, Kakai became emotional while discussing her relationship with Mario and how she never expected him to be so good to her.
Also, in a 2019 interview with Boy Abunda, she explained that while she and Mario were not in a relationship, she “fell for his realness” and that they had exchanged “I love you’s” as friends. In the same interview, she explained that they had unexpectedly stopped talking and hadn’t spoken in 7 years.
With the aforementioned scenarios, Kakai’s legal counsel also assured and maintained that the actress’s claims about her “experience, relation, and contact with Mr. Maurer” were all valid and made without malice.
“Nonetheless, our Client has decided to totally dissociate herself from Mr. Maurer through all means and channels possible.”
