Nadine Lustre not obligated to greet everyone?

Nadine Lustre is not your typical celebrity who goes out their way to acknowledge or greet someone.

Lustre in Edward Barber’s “Kwentong Barber” on June 23 recalled how people expected celebrities to greet them.

Barber shared on his live stream how some individuals tend to sometimes make actors’ and actresses’ jobs more difficult at work. But Lustre stressed that it happens even outside of work.

“That’s not just the people with who you work with. It’s also for people outside just walking around the mall,” said the actress-singer.

Recalling an event that transpired inside a mall, Lustre revealed that a woman expected the actress-singer to actually greet her.

“There’s one time I was walking around the mall, walking lang, like passing lang. And then one of the shops, there is this one person, a lady, and she said, ‘Suplada naman.’ And I looked at her and I’m like, ‘Am I supposed to say hi to you? I don’t know you’,” she shared.

Lustre is not the type of person who would greet everybody even though they are complete strangers.

“She was just there! And she was expecting me to say hi to her. So if you want me to say hi to you, say hi to me or acknowledge me, or greet me. And I’m not gonna go out of my way to say hi to you.”

Though the actress-singer understands how people think that celebrities are obligated to greet every person they see. Still, it is not an artist’s responsibility. It is about providing entertainment and saying hi to everyone is not part of their job description.

“And I think it’s also because people forget that we are also people, humans. That it’s not our responsibility to acknowledge everyone and to please everyone. Our responsibility is to give entertainment and that’s not a part of it,” pointed Lustre.

In the meantime, the singer-actress is busy with her upcoming virtual concert Virtual Madness, organized by her music label, Careless Music.

However, she may face contempt charges if she decides to push through.

According to a self-confessed Lustre fan, Atty. Ferdie Topacio, since the court favored Viva’s case against Lustre, ruling that her contract with the agency is still valid, disregarding such a decision from the court may result in contempt charges.

“Contempt of court kapag itinuloy ni Nadine ang concert niya.”

It will also include the sponsors of the concert if pushed.

“Pati ‘yung mga sponsor ng concert, puwedeng madamay dahil puwede silang mademanda for tortious interference with a contract.

“Contempt of court ‘yun. P’wede siyang ma-fine, pwedeng makulong.

“Depende sa court kung magkano ang fine, pero p’wedeng makulong si Nadine up to thirty days.”

But Lustre’s camp is determined to do it.

Atty. Lorna Kapunan, the legal counsel of Nadine said, “Tuloy ang concert. We will file a motion for reconsideration.”

The virtual concert, if it pushes through, will be available for streaming on July 3 via Kumu Live.
