On Wednesday, June 1, celebrity couple Rabiya Mateo and Jeric Gonzales proved that it is not hard to choose between love and a career.
Both signed contracts with Sparkle GMA Artist Center.
In the post-signing virtual media conference, the former beauty queen insisted that if she has to pick one, she will always choose Gonzales.
“Naku po! I will be honest talaga. Kapag nagmahal talaga ako, all out,” she admitted.
Mateo even revealed that her love for the actor gave headaches to her management. But she is willing to “risk it all,” including a showbiz career.
“Ang dami kong sinacrifice din for this one. Ilang beses na rin ako napagalitan ng management ko dahil matigas daw ang ulo ko. Pero kapag nagmahal po talaga ako, totoo. I can sacrifice few things kung ‘yon ang makakapagpabuti sa’kin at kay Jeric. So mahalaga sa akin ang trabaho pero mahalaga din po sa akin si Jeric.”
Meanwhile, the actor said that he can manage “both worlds.”
Gonzales stressed that before his girlfriend came into his life, he already had put in work to hone his craft. And it did put some worry in him, having his career just blossoming and with Mateo.
“Noong dumating siya, I thought, it was gonna be hard. Of course, it’s gonna be hard coz’ it’s a relationship.”
The actor realized that when he fell in love with her, it became “easier.”
“Pero hindi ko na-feel na hindi ko kakayanin eh. Na-feel ko na mas lalo akong naging masaya, mas lalo akong naging inspired, mas lalo akong ginanahan, mas lalo akong na-push to do the best in me.”
He is proud to say that he now has the beauty queen by his side.
“I couldn’t be more proud na sabihin sa mga tao na ang swerte ko coz’ sinagot ako ng isang Rabiya Mateo and nandito siya ngayon para sa akin. Wala lang, sobrang happy lang talaga.”

Furthermore, Gonzales is excited to build more memories with Mateo now that they are both in Sparkle GMA Artist Center.
“We’re very in love with each other. Right now, masaya kami sa nangyayari sa amin. Like ito, sabay kaming nag-sign dito sa Sparkle.
“We’re very excited sa mga opportunities na p’wede kaming magkasama, sa mga projects na—pinag-uusapan nga namin na sana one time, magkaroon tayo ng project together. May show tayo together, or film, kahit saan. Parang ang saya lang na magkasama tayo.”
Speculations arose that they were dating after working together for an episode of the Kapuso drama anthology Wish Ko Lang.
Earlier in March, the couple publicized their relationship through Mateo’s Instagram post. Gonzales commented, “To more memories with you @rabiyamateo I love you.”

Mateo and Gonzales joined Katrina Chavez, Lexi Gonzales, Zonia Mejia, Nikki Co, Radson Flores, Anthony Rosaldo, and Kirst Viray for the contract signing.
