‘Oras de Peligro’ director Joel Lamangan, not surprised if ‘Martyr or Murderer’ got more ticket sales

Director Joel Lamangan expects Martyr or Murderer (MoM) to perform better at the box office versus Oras de Peligro.

According to a reliable source from PEP Ph, MoM earned P8 million on its first showing day on Wednesday, March 1. However, the movie sales dropped by 35 percent on its second day.

During an interview on DZRH on Wednesday, Lamangan mentioned that Oras de Peligro only earned around half a million pesos.

He said it was still acceptable compared to previous local films shown after the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

He also mentioned that he was not surprised that MoM is doing better since it’s shown in 257 cinemas compared to Oras de Peligro’s 108.

“May ganun! Hindi naman masama yun. Naghahanap sila ng magandang marketing. “Siguro ako rin kung may power ako, gagawin ko din yun,” he said.

Lamangan hopes his movie will return this weekend to help his producer recover and make way for another film project.

He then insisted that his movie was accurate.

Oras de Peligro depicts the events of the final days of the EDSA People Power Revolution in 1986 from the perspective of an average Filipino family. The movie was written by Eric Ramos and Bonifacio Ilagan and produced by Bagong Siklab Productions. Lamangan said the movie does not intend to tarnish the reputation of the present administration or criticize the previous administration.

MoM is a movie that portrays the last days of the Marcos family before they were ecacuated from Malacanang and transported to Hawaii. MoM continues to narrate the family’s story before and after the EDSA Revolution, shedding light on their life in exile and Sen. Imee Marcos’ alleged escapades in Morocco.

The film explores the challenges faced by the siblings and how the patriarch and his wife coped with their lives after the revolution. It also delves into the intrigues surrounding Imee’s supposed hiding and passport forgery.
