Angel Locsin’s “The Legal Wife” breaks the curse of low primetime ratings on third slot

For over two months now since “Juan dela Cruz” left Primetime Bida to make way to “Honesto,” the ratings of the shows on primetime are significantly low, most of the time not reaching 30s. It’s not yet alarming since when we compare it to the rival networks’ ratings, it’s still far, but then for a ratings conscious viewers like me, it’s disappointing. But since last Monday, when ABS-CBN aired the premiere of “The Legal Wife,” the primetime ratings spiked back to the 30s from “TV Patrol.” We can say that it’s maybe because of the issue of Vhong Navarro tackled on the news, but the viewers stayed long to watch the whole line-up of primetime.

ABS-CBN ruled primetime with its timely drama on honesty and kindness, “Honesto,” leading the pack with its all-time high national TV rating of 33.3% or more than twice the viewership of GMA’s “Adarna” that rated 14.9% only. “TV Patrol” became the second most-watched TV program nationwide as viewers tuned in for the latest news, including the latest updates on the controversial Vhong Navarro mauling incident. It registered a national TV rating of 33.1%, beating its competition “24 Oras” (14.8%). “Got To Believe” placed third with 29.8% national TV rating, whereas its new competition, “Carmela,” only scored 14.4%. Following “Got To Believe” in the list was “Annaliza” that remained undisputed with 23.7% national TV rating or 14 points higher than the 9.6% pilot rating of “Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw.”

ABS-CBN’s newest family drama series “The Legal Wife” starring Angel Locsin, Maja Salvador, JC de Vera and Jericho Rosales was the fifth most-watched TV program with a 21% national TV rating versus its rival show “Rhodora X” (11%). Angel Locsin and the whole cast of “The Legal Wife” broke the curse of having low ratings on this slot from “Lorenzo’s time” to “Maria Mercedes.”

Hit Koreanovela series “When A Man Falls In Love” continued to grip viewers on its finale week as it won with 9.4% national TV rating, beating GMA’s “A 100-Year Legacy,” which only got 6.8%.
