There’s no stopping Coco Martin and FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano from smashing their competition.

With the premiere of its latest rival, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano proved to be the unbeatable primetime leader in Philippine television.
On July 30, 2018, GMA Network premiered its latest weapon against FPJAP, Victor Magtanggol starring Alden Richards.

The telefantasya is considered as the Kapuso network’s latest weapon in its arsenal against the top-rating Coco Martin series.
But the numbers are telling another story.
Based on Victor Magtanggol’s pilot week comparative ratings both from Kantar Media and AGB Nielsen NUTAM People ratings, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has kept its lead.
From July 30 to August 3, 2018, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano beat Victor Magtanggol’s pilot week.
On its pilot episode, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano aced Victor Magtanggol with 2.3% difference at 14.7% vs 12.4% based on AGB Nielsen NUTAM People ratings.
The gap has become wider on the 3rd day with FPJAP extending its lead to 4.3% at 14.8% vs 10.5% ratings respectively.
Kantar Media also reported a significant win for FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano for the whole pilot week.
FPJAP’s biggest lead was recorded on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 24.8%,42.7% vs 17.9%.
Wrong Timing
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s continued dominance on primetime does not come as a surprise to many.

With the many teledramas and telefantasyas that GMA Network fielded against Coco Martin’s FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Victor Magtanggol’s entry is deemed as another case of bad timing.
Some quarters say that launching a new series against a formidable one is a herculean task.
There is a perception that Alden Richards’ appeal courtesy of AlDub has waned.

Haven’t they learned from Destined to be Yours’ not so stellar performance? Even though it starred the phenomenal AlDub, it didn’t do outstandingly in the ratings game.
GMA Network could have waited for FPJAP to end before they fielded a bigger telefantasya because that is the only time that they’ll have better chances of biting into a chunk of the Kapamilya audience and possibly snatch the primetime block lead.
