- Catriona Gray was crowned Miss Universe 2018.
- Chavit Singson may be the new franchise holder of Miss Universe-Philippines.
- If these rumors turned out to be true, Catriona will be the last Miss Universe-Philippines crowned by the Binibining Pilipinas.
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray came back to Manila, Philippines on Wednesday, December 19. Former Ilocos Sur governor Chavit Singson accompanied her along with his daughter, Richelle Michael.
This started the rumors that Chavit may be the new franchise holder of Miss Universe-Philippines.
Chavit as the new franchise holder.
Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated (BCPI) currently holds the franchise of Miss Universe-Phiilippines headed by Stella Marquez-Araneta. According to rumors, the franchise will soon be given to the LCS Group of Companies owned by the former governor himself.
It should be noted that LCS Group of Companies successfully sponsored the 65th Miss Universe where 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach passed her crown to Iris Mittenaire of France. If these rumors turned out to be true, Catriona will be the last Miss Universe-Philippines crowned by the Binibining Pilipinas.

According to Singson, the Miss Universe 2019 pageant will be held in South Korea. In an interview with DZMM, he claimed that he helped the Miss Universe Organization to secure the venue for next year’s pageant.

“Dati na akong tumutulong kasi sa Miss Universe, mula noong ako’y nag-sponsor, taon-taon tumutulong ako sa kanila. Kaya sa Bangkok ginawa, nakatulong din ako. Saka next year, na-arrange ko na, sa South Korea, at sasama ang North Korea, kaya maganda ang exposure ni Catriona ‘pag tinurn-over na, itu-turn over niya sa next Miss Universe, doon ko gagawin sa South Korea.”
Catriona’s official homecoming, which traditionally includes a motorcade and TV appearances, has yet to be arranged.
