The recently-held national elections presumptive winners got warned by Enriquez that the public won’t rest watching them throughout their entire tenure.
Apparent victors of the 2022 national polls received a stark warning from veteran Kapuso broadcast journalist Mike Enriquez during the live airing of GTV’s Balitanghali Express on May 10, a day after the election was held.
“Kayong mga nanalo, tandaan ninyo, magbabantay kami (To everyone who won the election, never forget that we’re keeping tabs on of you),” he declared, as he also reminded television viewers and Filipino citizens to never abandon their duties of scrutinizing public officials.
“Babantayan po natin ‘yung mga nanalo (We will keep an eye on those who won),”
On social media, Enriquez earned mostly positive praises from netizens, with most comments being about their admiration and respect for the seasoned journalist.
Twitter user @chipseylaurent likened Enriquez’s reaction to what many netizens feel about the election.

He attached a video clip of the broadcaster while he was issuing his warning.

Nicole underscored the fact that journalists are humans, too.
She noted that with another Marcos presidency already around the corner, journalism may be facing tough six years.
“Journalism must uphold objectivity, but journalists are humans too. If we’re put on another Marcos admin, they’ll control people’s access on press freedom. And that’s pretty much alarming!” she said in her tweet.

Mariella, meanwhile, noted Enriquez’s consistency in responding to elected officials with questionable qualifications.

Enriquez returned to his news anchoring duties after going on hiatus due to health conditions. He currently presents GMA Network’s flagship Tagalog newscast, 24 Oras, alongside Vicky Morales and Mel Tiangco.
