FOLLOWING the overwhelming success of his Pure Energy: One Last Time concert series last April 26 and 27 at the SM MOA ARENA, which led to an encore performance on May 10, OPM icon Gary Valenciano is set to take the stage once more.
By popular demand, Pure Energy: One More Time returns for another much-awaited run on December 20and 22. This time, the show will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum — a venue rich with history for Gary, as it was there that he performed his first major solo concert 40 years ago. Now, he returns to where it all began, ready to deliver an energetic, nostalgic celebration of his storied career.
Over the last four decades, Gary has become synonymous with musical excellence and high-energy performances, and an unparalleled ability to connect with audiences in the Philippines and beyond. His career has taken him to some of the world’s biggest and most prestigious stages, from the Luneta Grandstand in the Philippines, where he captivated over 500,000 attendees, to the Tamar Site in Hong Kong, where he performed at the Hong Kong Harbor Music Festival in 2003, the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and at the Abu Dhabi Corniche with 27,000 in attendance in 2013.
Last year, Gary marked his 100th solo show at the Music Museum with his wildly successful sold-out 10-nightconcert series Gary V: Back At The Museum. From an initial run of four shows in August 2023, it was extended twice, underscoring Gary’s enduring popularity and the impact of his music and performances. He also received multiple standing ovations from jam-packed audiences during his US/Canada tour.
Gary’s original announcement for Pure Energy: One Last Time initially led many to assume the unthinkable: that he would officially retire from performing. However, he has since clarified that while he’s stepping back from headlining solo shows in large venues like arenas and domes, his passion for music and performing remains as strong as ever.
Gary’s career has been marked by passion, resilience, and a strong connection with his audience — qualities that have only deepened through personal health battles, which include a 45-year struggle with Type 1 diabetes, hepatitis, tuberculosis, arthroscopic surgeries on his right knee, a heart bypass surgery, kidney cancer, dengue fever, COVID-19, pneumonia, and an angioplasty this 2024. But despite such medical challenges, Gary’s commitment to his craft is as strong as ever, as is his desire to uplift and inspire through his music.
