Actor-comedian Dennis Padilla expressed sadness after learning that his daughter, Claudia Barretto, has filed a petition seeking to remove “Baldivia” from her legal name.

A copy of the court petition, which has been circulating online, shows Claudia requesting that her name be changed from Claudia Isabelle Barretto Baldivia to Claudia Isabelle Barretto.
Reacting to the development, Dennis shared a copy of the petition on Instagram along with an emotional message addressed to his daughter.
“Kung ang lungkot ko ay kasiyahan mo anak… Hindi magbabago ang pagmamahal ko syo Claudia – Papa,” he wrote.
In the caption of his post, the actor reiterated his respect for Claudia’s decision despite the pain it caused him.
“Love you Claui… I respect your decision.… Malungkot lang talaga❤️,” he said.
According to the petition, the case is titled: “In the Matter of the Change of Name of Claudia Isabelle Barretto Baldivia to Claudia Isabelle Barretto.”
The document names Claudia as the petitioner and lists the Republic of the Philippines, through the Office of the Solicitor General, the Local Civil Registrars of Quezon City and Muntinlupa City, and the Philippine Statistics Authority as respondents.
No further details regarding the petition were publicly available.
Claudia, the daughter of Dennis and former actress Marjorie Barretto, married Basti Lorenzo in April 2025. If granted by the court, her legal name would become Claudia Isabelle Barretto Lorenzo.
This is not the first time a child of Dennis and Marjorie has sought to change their surname. In 2014, Claudia’s older sister, Julia Barretto, also filed a petition to change her surname from Baldivia to Barretto.
At the time, Dennis said he would not contest the move if the court approved it, emphasizing that his love for his daughter would remain unchanged.
However, Julia later decided not to pursue the petition following a reconciliation with her father.
Speaking during a press conference for her 18th birthday in 2015, Julia explained: “I feel that right now, there’s really no need to change my last name.”
“No need anymore to change my last name.”
