A very timely song was featured in ABS-CBN’s Himig 11th Edition, even being included in the Top Five.

Mahirap Maging Mahirap was a song composed by Kenneth Reodica and was interpreted by Davey Langit featuring Kritiko.

During the media conference for the event’s winners, Langit revealed the reason why he agreed to do the song. The singer felt that the song was a perfect interpretation of the sufferings that people are experiencing right now due to the pandemic.

“The first time palang kasi na pinadinig sakin yung demo nito, I knew that it was something different. Kasi it was something na hindi masyadong nake-cater sa Himig Handog,” the singer said. “Kasi it speaks so much truth eh. It’s a song that’s very very vulnerable and very relatable in relation to what we are experiencing right now. It’s quite advantageous and it’s very enjoyable to perform.”

Meanwhile, during the finals night on March 21, JM Yosures performed the song on behalf of Langit. The singer failed to attend because he was exposed to Covid-19 and had to isolate himself to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.

“Last week prior to the Himig finals, I learned Friday morning that I was exposed to someone who tested positive to the virus. So immediately, nag-usap kami ng people from Himig na wag ako tumuloy for the safety of everyone,” shared Langit.

“Wednesday, dun ako na-expose dun sa isa kong kaibigan. And then Thursday, we both had PCR tests for separate projects. Yung sa akin I tested negative, kaso siya nagpositive.

“Pumunta siya sa bahay ko, nagdala ng pagkain. Ganun lang ang nangyari. But I feel fine pero I’m still gonna get tested.”

Langit, who was present during the media conference, also did not forget to commend Yosures for his performance during the finals night.

“Gusto ko lang pasalamatan si JM who did a magnificent job last night,” said Langit.

The TNT Season Fourth Grand Winner performed alongside Kritiko during the finals night. But with less than a week to prepare, Yosures delivered an outstanding rendition of the song.

The singer admitted that he took Kritiko’s advice, that he should not think about the contest but the message that the song is trying to impart.

“Accidentally napanuod ko na rin yung clip na yung driver na nagsabi ng “ang hirap maging mahirap”, yun yung naging inspiration ko. Sabi rin ni Kritiko, wag ko isipin yung contest, isipin ko yung message at dapat maramdaman yun ng mga tao.”

From his stellar performance, Yosures was dubbed the ‘male version’ of KZ Tandingan. When asked what his reaction to people now calling him the male KZ, the singer admitted that he was flattered that people see it that way. However, he knew that he still needs to improve more as a performer.

“Ang hirap naman. Thank you for comparing me to the KZ Tandingan. Pero andami ko pang matutunan as a performer. Maraming salamat sa pag-appreciate.”

Mahirap Maging Mahirap was declared the fourth Best Song, winning P100,000.
