GMA International (GMAI), GMA Network’s global arm, continues to prove how Filipinos abroad can be #StrongerTogether and at the same time closer to home as it further grows its digital presence in various social media platforms.
As of June 2021, GMAI’s social media accounts for international channels GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV, and GMA News TV gathered almost 2.4 million followers worldwide on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
Flagship international channel GMA Pinoy TV’s newest platform, TikTok, is now its fastest-growing social media account with month-on-month growths of 147 percent and 304 percent in April and May, respectively. Its top TikTok video, an excerpt from Bubble Gang, has already reached 3.7 million views to date while its other content record an average of 200K views each. The channel’s video-sharing account has 120k followers as of June 2021.
The GMA Pinoy TV Facebook Page, GMAI’s biggest social media asset, likewise posted significant increase with a 6 percent quarterly growth, and accumulating 1.48 million followers as of June 2021. The account was also able to gather an average of 7.6 million video views per month this 2021.
Even with the pandemic, the channel continues to provide top-notch entertainment to the Kapuso abroad and organize various efforts for them such as the recent Philippine Independence Day celebration on various parts of the world and the “DongYan #StrongerTogether FunCon” with Kapuso royalties Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera.
The fan page also houses original series that feature the brightest Kapuso personalities and the stories of Kapuso abroad including “Quick Chat,” “EntrePinoy Abroad,” and “Behind the Seen.”
GMA Pinoy TV also remains to be the leading international Filipino TV channel brand on Instagram and Twitter, with a follower count of 236.1K and 87.5K, respectively, as of June. Its YouTube channel currently has more than 2.6M video views since its creation in 2019.
The Kapuso abroad are also served with various entertaining content on GMA International’s other social media platforms such as GMA Life TV and GMA News TV on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. These platforms continue to be not just a source of joy online, but also the latest news from the Philippines, especially on GMA News TV (@gmanewstv), which gained 8 percent Twitter growth during the first quarter of the year. GMA Life TV, on the other hand, achieved an 11 percent growth on Instagram for the same period.
