Pop Talk—the “paboritong review show ng bayan”—moves to a new timeslot as it now airs every Saturday, 9:50 pm, on GTV beginning May 1.
For the past 10 years, ‘Pop Talk’ has practically toured the country in search of the restaurants, resorts, exciting places, and new experiences to try out and review for its loyal viewers.
Host Tonipet Gaba is grateful for the public’s continued support to Pop Talk, saying that if there’s one “Pop na Pop” thing they discovered when they resumed taping for the show late last year following the restrictions due to the pandemic, it would be that viewers stayed with them.
“Hindi pa rin sila nang-iwan. Nariyan pa rin ang ating Kapuso viewers. ‘Yung reaction nila tuwing ako ay nangangamusta sa aming FB page, excited sila. Kung baga sa mga pagkaing aming pinapakita, gutom na gutom sila sa content,” he said, adding that as early as now, viewers are in for a treat as Pop Talk celebrates a decade on air this year.
“Paano nga ba namin mapi-pay forward ‘yung mainit na patanggap sa Pop Talk? To come up with a series of specials for everyone,” Tonipet shared. “Pagpalo na pagpalo pa lang ng May 1, may ‘Balik-Pasyal’ episode tayo—babalikan natin ang mga dating pinasyalan at pinuntahan ng ating Kapuso viewers sa Pop Talk. At kukumustahin din natin s’yempre ‘yung changes at ‘yung pinagdaanan nila nitong mga nagdaang buwan at paano nga ba sila nag-cope sa challenges ng new normal” he said.
Kicking off its new timeslot this Saturday, Tonipet takes viewers on a retrospective tour of some of the most ‘pop na pop’ places and destinations that the program has visited from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Joining him are special guests ‘The Lost Recipe’ stars Mikee Quintos and Kelvin Miranda, who have also recently rediscovered the charms of Old Manila. Kapuso actress Katrina Halili, on the other hand, gives viewers a virtual tour of the timeless beauty of her home province, Palawan.
What significant changes have these places gone through since the lockdown brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic? How do they cope with the recent challenges of the ‘new normal’? And when travel is finally allowed again, based on certain health and safety protocols, are there noteworthy destinations that viewers should check out, and new activities that they should experience?
Catch ‘Pop Talk’ on its new timeslot beginning with the ‘Balik-Pasyal’ episode this Saturday, May 1, 9:50 PM on GTV.
Viewers abroad can catch ‘Pop Talk’ via GMA Life TV.
