On December 14, phenomenal box office director Cathy Garcia-Molina expressed her gratitude for her first Metro Manila Film Festival entry amid the pandemic.
During the media conference for Love At First Stream, Garcia-Molina said there are things she feels thankful for amid the pandemic, such as her first MMFF project.
“Pandemya lang pala magbibigay sa akin ng oportunidad na ito. Alam mo marami talagang pwedeng ipagpasalamat ngayong pandemyang ito. Maraming itinuro sa ating bago. Finally, nakasama na ako sa MMFF, fluvial float pa.”
She then described Love At First Stream as her love letter to generations.
“This (Love At First Stream) is a love letter to generations. This movie, as much as it is very current, is not only for the children, the teens, the young ones but also for women or parents like us.”
Garcia Molina also noted that the film is ‘very true to her heart’ as she wanted to understand and learn about her children through the movie.
“This is very true to my heart. Itong pelikulang ‘to ay nanggaling sa butil sa aking puso na problem at mga tanong ko sa mga kabataan ngayon. And I wanted to learn through this film, kasi maraming bagay akong hindi naiintindihan sa kanila and I think vice versa.”
She also expressed her hopes of bridging the gap between generations with her MMFF 2021 movie.
“And I think I learned a lot by making this film about understanding my children. So sana ‘yun ‘yung gusto talaga naming ibahagi sa marami that let us understand each other, let’s not fight. I don’t want parents fighting with children.”
As for the MMFF, Garcia-Molina said she feels excited about the fluvial float for the parade.
“Well honestly I don’t know what to expect anymore kasi medyo iba ‘yung setup ngayon than the other MMFF’s na dumaan no. Ang alam ko lang ay masaya. I’m looking forward to riding the float. Nagkataon first time, ito fluvial so happy, pero excited lang ako. Buti na lang marunong akong lumangoy pero lalagyan daw ako ng vest agad-agad.”
She also noted that she’s looking forward to experiencing an all-Pinoy premiere celebrating Filipino movies in the MMFF 2021.
“Pero excited, matagal ko nang hinihiling na sana magkaroon ako ng MMFF movie. Gusto ko lang ma-experience ‘yung saya nung lahat Filipino movies ang pinapanood. Tapos ‘yung mga manonood sayo, family di ba? Ang lalaking grupo di ba? Tapos nabibigyan mo ng saya. Tapos ‘yun looking forward.”
Phenomenal box office director Cathy Garcia-Molina helms the movie with new Kapamilya artists Anthony Jennings, Kaori Oinuma, Daniela Stranner, and Jeremiah Lisbo.
The movie also includes a stellar supporting cast with Quincy Villanueva, Vien King, Ashley Polinar , Pinky Amador, Agot Isidro, and Igiboy Flores.
Love At First Stream premieres on December 25 during the Metro Manila Film Festival 2021.
