ABS-CBN honored Filipino achievers that brought honor to the country like athletes Yuka Saso, Nonito Donaire Jr., and Alex Eala through a tribute video launched on TV and online.
Yuka, Nonito, and Alex recently shone bright in the world stage after showing incredible strength, talent, and heart in their respective competitions.
Yuka is the first Filipino to win in one of the most prestigious golf tournaments as the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open champion. Nonito, on the other hand, proved he still has a lot of fight in him after winning another world title in boxing. Meanwhile, Alex Eala continues to rise in the world of tennis after winning at the 2021 French Open girls doubles competition with her Russian partner Oksana Selekhmeteva.
The grace and wisdom of beauty queens Miss Trans Global 2020 Mela Habijan and Miss Grand International 2020 1st runner-up Samantha Bernardo also became source of Filipino pride, same with the talent of the Kammerchor Manila choir that won Grand Prix at the Queen of the Adriatic Sea Choral Festival and Competition. The courage and expertise of Dr. Deo Onda were also recognized as he became the first Filipino to reach the Emden Deep, one of the deepest parts of Earth.
Like the nation’s heroes, they serve as inspiration to Filipinos to choose to be good in what they do and in fulfilling their duty, and to also be good to their fellowmen.
